Paul Sanderson is the Chief Executive of The Recycling Association and Secretary of UKSSA. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.
Paul has been involved in the recycling sector since 2004 when he became editor of MRW magazine. Since then, he has also founded his own businesses and provided consultancy services to The Recycling Association.
He joined both UKSSA and The Recycling Association in March 2023.
After starting out working in his family business, Paul worked in agriculture and construction before finally entering the recycling sector.
Paul now has over 20 years’ experience working in the recycling industry and has built up a large network of contacts. He uses his expertise to provide value-added solutions from the handling and processing, to the recovery and recycling of many waste materials, reducing the impact financially and environmentally of sending these materials to landfill.
He is the founder and managing director of Recycling Plant and Machinery Ltd (RPM Ltd), which specialises in the sales and marketing of new and used recycling equipment. This includes security shredding machinery such as mobile and off-site shredders, balers, compactors and security consoles.
He also project manages installations and decommissioning of processing lines and in some cases the relocation to other recycling facilities.
Alongside this, Paul works in business development for energy recovery equipment specialist IQR Solutions AB and sits on the board of the Wood Recyclers’ Association.
He has always gone the extra mile to stay ahead of the curve and understand the businesses he works for and in 2019 was elected chair of the United Kingdom Security Shredding Association.
Paul has a very clear vision for UKSSA and has helped to steer the Association during a very challenging trading period while ensuring that UKSSA continues to share best practice and promote the highest security shredding standards in the industry.
